The Sony Xperia X Performance has an excellent design much like other mobile phones in the Sony Xperia range of mobile phones. The phone uses the same chipset as other high-end phones such as the Nokia Lumia 930 or some use the same chipset as the Sony Xperia Z Ultra which is a really top-end phone.

Sony Xperia XP

Sony Xperia X Performance has very good specs and very similar to the Xperia Z Ultra. It also covers all three network bands being 2G (GSM 850/900/1800/1900) as well as the 3G band being (HSDPA 850/900/1700/1900/2100). The phone also covers the 4G band (LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 17(700) – C6806) as well as (LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800) – C6833). Connection speed is HSPA at 42.2/5.76 Mbps as well as LTE Cat4 at 150/50 Mbps. There is also GPRS (up to 107 kbps) as well as EDGE (up to 296 kbps).

The phone makes use of a large IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors with a screen size of 5.0 inches (~68.1% screen-to-body ratio) a well as a screen resolution of  1080 x 1920 pixels all of this lit with a ~441 ppi pixel density. If you are looking for sharp images then this screen will do it for you. Note that this phone is a multitouch screen with up to 10 fingers ability.

The screen of the Sony Xperia XP is also covered with a scratch-resistant glass as well as an oleophobic coating (it keeps fingerprint spots off of the screen). The phone also makes use of a triluminos display which uses three photos to make a balanced photo or video all taken at the same time. There is also a graphics engine call the X-Reality Engine which Xperia phones have started to use.

The Sony Xperia XP is based on the Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset which makes use of the Quad-core (2×2.15 GHz Kryo & 2×1.6 GHz Kryo) CPU. The graphics is powered by the well known Adreno 530 GPU. This all running on the Android OS, v6.0.1 (Marshmallow), planned upgrade to v7.0 (Nougat) operating system. The mobile phone has large memory, 32 GB of space and 3 GB of RAM. This is on the single SIM version. The dual version is has 64 GB of space and 3 GB  of RAM. If you need more space then there is a dedicated slot in the single-SIM phone with up to 256 GB for a microSD card. Note that in the dual version of the phone then it uses the dual SIM slot.

Sony Xperia X Performance You are going to need lots of space with this phone as it has a 23 MP camera with phase detection autofocus as well as an LED flash. With a large 1/2.3″ sensor size the phone takes really great video and pictures. The phone also offers, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama photos. The video abilities of the phone is an extreme [email protected] or [email protected]

Very few phones on the market offer these abilities. The secondary camera is also a large 1/3″ sensor size camera with a 13 MP camera capable of 1080 pixels. The Sony Xperia X Performance is an absolutely excellent mobile phone.

The other bells and whistles on the phone are vibration; MP3 and WAV ringtones for your alerts. There is a loudspeaker with stereo speakers as well as a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. Audio is at – 24-bit/192kHz audio with active noise cancellation with a dedicated mic.

Connectivity is with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct as well as DLNA and hotspot. Bluetooth is v4.2. There is also A-GPS, GLONASS/ BDS (region dependent) as well as NFC and a microUSB USB version 2 port. Sensors on the phone is a fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, barometer as well as a compass. There is also an HTML5 browser as well as SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, IM and Push Email.

The phone is an excellent buy and comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 2700 mAh battery with 20 hours of talk time. Overall the phone is a very good investment and you will not need to upgrade for years to come. It also has a good feel in the hand as the edges are rounded and very smart looking.
