MSM7230 – Snapdragon S2

The MSM7230 chipset from the Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 range has been used on many phones since 2010 when it was originally released. The MSM7230 is a single core processor from Qualcomm with 256kb cache on the core.

 The chipset is powered by a Qualcomm Scorpion up to 800Mhz with an Adreno 205 GPU managing all the graphics. The Adreno GPU runs at 266 MHz and has proven to be more than capable on many of the phones that it has been used in. The chipset has been used on the following mobile phones:

  • Acer Liquid Metal
  • HP Veer
  • HTC Desire Z
  • Huawei Ideos X5

Note that there are two chipsets that are very similar to each other. The MSM7630 and the MSM7230 are very similar except that the wireless technologies are different. The two are compared below.
